Demarkus Lewis - Running On Kaoz Street EP on Madhouse Records

10 years ago Demarkus Lewis was being touted as the next Carl Craig - large boots to fill and a heavy prophesy to bare. However, his ascent since has probably seen him gravitate more toward the house sound of Kerri Chandler than quirkier techno.

And his latest EP is on Madhouse see him release on Kerri's own legendary imprint. Demarkus joins a roster of long running Madhouse artists, alongside Tony Lionni, Dennis Ferrer, Isaac Christopher and Voyeur.

Kicking off the EP with 'Okay' Lewis plays into the exact territory of Madhouse - bumping, melodic NYC house. It's a smooth ride, with samples inter-playing effectively, and some very Chandler-esque chords and steppy bassline.

'Body High' jacks up the groove a little - a brighter production with perky, almost cheeky, samples. Playing It For You' stays on a similar path with flourishing chord sequences and occasional vocal cuts, while the shuffling beats and rugged bass groove fuel the track's infectious march.
